Caught Juno yesterday with Piongie (it's gonna turn into our weekly indulgence if we keep this up! *grins*); and it was such a beautiful movie! It was about this sixteen year old who got pregnant and made the decision to give her baby away to someone who needed it more; but mostly it was about how innocent yet not innocent we are at that age, and how love can be so uncomplicated and earnest, existing between two very different kids who love each other for being just that.

Ellen Page is just super witty, and the scriptwriter has such a knack for unique descriptions, it made the movie so hilarious ! "I'm a sacred vessel and all u have in you is taco bell" Anyway I learnt alot from the show. Juno's parents were so accepting and open-minded, and so full of love for the family in their little ways, and somehow I'd always wished my dad could be alittle like Juno's dad..

Anyways, i really recommend it! The songs in the show rock too anyway, not the typical kind of songs u'd find; the more hippie kinds, with meanings in the lyrics. I love! gonna get the DVD when it comes out! (:

Oh no, Lydia Sum just passed away?? Sighs. How sad. She really was one of the more revered artistes in HK, and I really admired her too, cos she did prove that fat women could be successful! To Lydia Sum, who will be missed..

FWOC has always been more than just an orientation. While the freshmen were offered a tantalizing taste of what is to come as they embark on their new journey, the seniors saw it as an unbridled expression of a Kentridgean unleashed. But ask any member of the FWOC team, past and present, and they will tell you an entirely different story.

Most Kentridgeans will shun the idea of joining FWOC. This is understandably so, because the reasons are relatively simple and logical – that no one believes that a team of twelve Kentridgeans can slog it out to put together a two week orientation programme within three months.

Indeed, I had been one of the doubters too. It simply did not make sense to me why would we want to have only twelve people on the committee when we could have easily called for more. Indeed, it is sheer madness when it is true that only Kent Ridge Hall has this strangely sardonic practice when other halls will choose to muster more than half of their active residents to plan their respective freshmen orientation projects.

Yet it is our refusal to conform that makes us special. For us, twelve is the magical number.
No one had expected an easy ride. From the earliest conceptualization of the orientation theme to the eventual, long awaited Day-Zero morning briefing, FWOC 07/08 was never just about a journey of working out t-shirt and focus book designs, looking for sponsorships and endorsements, planning and trying out wet and dirty orientation games, writing and editing a 263 page long proposal and integrating meal timings and logistical preparation into an endless myriad of timetables and plans.

It was about the story of a team that was as raw and inexperienced as any FWOC team could have ever been. When we scrambled and were left befuddled, clueless and lost, we learnt to trust and hold each others’ hands as we walked together not as twelve individuals but as a team. When we shed tears and had original plans tattered and thrown into total disarray, our partners picked us up and convinced us that we had the ability to make things right again. We were stubborn, but only because of our refusal to give up on each other and our hopes for FWOC to be a success.

This is the FWOC experience, one that is unique to every batch that had contributed so much into the singular purpose of making their FWOC a success. For the batch of 07/08, it was a life lesson well learnt, a mission well accomplished, and twelve friendships well forged.

Somewhere out there, someone loves you.

I prayed for a random old man today on tv, and I was reminded of this phrase I read somewhere; No matter what, always remember, somewhere out there, someone loves you. I never really believed it, but today, I felt it-- Somehow, sometime, everyone gets a prayer from someone whether they know it or not; whether they deserve it or not. Haha i guess i was having a mountainwings moment! Was never Christian, but I still pray each night and drop random prayers on random people I feel need a little blessing every now and then. Well I guess it's been a habit since my Catholic teachings in Pri sch.

ANyways, Happy Vday to everyone!! To all the singles out there, love is everywhere! Even if u have no special someone, remember, u're loved. (:

Touch Carnival '08!

Whoo! just got back from our Touch Carnival, and we're Second!! Didnt' really fulfil our dream of beating EH, but i guess we did fairly well by winning the rest of the four games of the day! There were really some super cool moves by our girls.

At e match against TH, it was nil-nil all the way til the last attack, when the alarm for game over was bleating away..then at the right wing, Mabel drew two men down to the left, did an overhead pass to Changxi, and Changx our miracle sprinter, sped up, dived and tried!! That was a real heart-popper, Damn nice. And so we won TH this year, 1-0. (:
